Impact Statement of FTGMF in Tudun-Wada Community
On Saturday, 28th September 2024, Barely three(3) days after the Inauguration of FWINBE THOMAS GOFWAN MEMORIAL FOUNDATION (28/9/2024) in that community, An FTGMF volunteer witnessed an incident that is narrated below.

A guy was almost lynched in Tudun-wada (along Mado Road, opposite JKF Pharmacy) because someone saw him following a path by a compound and thought he was a thief so they started shouting “THIEF! THIEF!! THIEF!!!” (not sure where the chase started from).
The guy had to run while being chased by a mob.
On getting to where the community people were gathered, he stopped and just shouted ‘ni ba barawo ba’ (Translation: I am not a thief), stating his innocence.
Luckily, he was stopped, and the mob who were chasing him was then asked what he stole,
All they could say was they saw him following the compound, and they thought he was a thief.
Amongst the community members who stopped the chasing mob, there was someone who recognized the person being chased and testified that the guy was not a thief.
Interestingly, he wasn’t holding anything apart from his phone charger.
This is the story of how this guy was saved from being lynched, as the mob was already picking sticks and coming after him.
The response of the committee members stopped the mob and saved the man’s life, and this was in line with the sensitization done to the Tudun-Wada community during the FTGMF inauguration.
The foundation is pleased that our advocacy for behavioural change in that community has begun to bear fruit and has saved a person’s life.
FTGMF will strive to keep up this advocacy for behavioural change towards preventing needless loss of life.
